As the Smithsonian Student Travel team embarked on the redesign of their website, it became evident that a more robust and scalable back-end infrastructure was critical to an efficient and powerful solution. Another key consideration was the ability for the new infrastructure to easily integrate with mission critical business systems including tour itinerary databases and enrollment applications.

Leveraging a legacy system, the Smithsonian Student Travel team continued to encounter numerous challenges including the ability to efficiently maintain up-to-date site content. To overcome these challenges, Oasis was tapped to provide strategic back end systems consultation and to serve as lead developers for the project.

Oasis worked closely with the Smithsonian Student Travel team throughout the entire project to provide the requisite guidance and oversight to ensure a successful build. Partnering with internal and third-party creative agencies, Oasis was able to translate and optimize their creative vision for the web. The Oasis development team also focused on creating a back end structure that would provide content editors with an intuitive folder structure to create further efficiencies and streamline content modification processes.
