A preliminary assessment of key subjects in our client’s arsenal is fundamental to obtaining a rapid and astute understanding of the business and landscape. As available these subjects include brand, market & customer research, clickstream and multi-outcome analytics, internal resourcing and stakeholders, and a preliminary look at the competitive environment.
Any strategy worth its weight derives significant value and meaning from collaborative work. We embrace this as fact and look to work with our clients in person for several days. This is a natural progression from our initial assessment and we are positioned well to hear deeper explanations about the organization, business goals, objectives and business level KPIs. We dive deep into understanding and deriving meaning from branding, marketing practices, company culture, aspirations and measurement practices. We look to speak with key experts and decision makers including customers as available. Discussions around sales, customer service and technology all yield valuable context for the larger strategy at hand.
It is a lot of information to digest. And often we find members of our clients own team is hearing things for the first time. It is a valuable process and customized for the business challenge we are being asked to support.
In order to articulate strategy(ies) we begin the process of synthesizing the information at hand into a comprehensive deliverable and presentation to the brand. Before we present the methodology, findings, recommendations and strategy we undergo a preemptive review process with key stakeholders. Creating anticipated alignment is always helpful for acceptance and adoption.
And then, it’s off to the races to put the strategy in motion with execution and delivery!
Although the deliverables associated with User Experience are consistent across projects, the order in which they are developed and the dependencies between them are unique to the challenges of a project.
One of the key points of differentiation is the relevance of a "big idea" for the interactivity of a site. When strategically appropriate and in alignment with what users seek from a brand experience, our team can produce blue sky concepts which encompass highly unique ways for users to create and consume content. These "sticky" sites are designed to entice the visitor into lingering and enjoying a prolonged exposure to the brand. However, the majority of the time our goal is to have a branded and enjoyable experience, but to more-or-less create an interface so intuitive that it becomes transparent to the visitor. The material difference between these two methods is in the role of visual designs and information architecture wireframes. Either way, our Information Architects and Interactive Designers work closely together to organize content, build menus, and apply graphic brand standards to the interface.
We present designs in-person with our client stakeholders and we prepare multiple alternatives for our visual layouts. Each alternative is planned to explore a different perspective in value proposition and/or application of brand standard. Every item presented is backed up by a defensible rationale stemming from the strategy documentation and measurable by both quantitative and qualitative surveys, if desired. As with all Agency Oasis deliverables, this is an interdisciplinary and collaborative process. Although our Designers and Information Architects are proficient in planning for implementation, our Development team is present throughout the UX phase, lending ideas and vetting concepts through a technical lens.
Although we discuss User Experience in a broad sense of users accomplishing goals and having rewarding brand experiences, the tactics of creating a continuous experience across all devices are very much on our mind. Using methodologies such as Responsive Design and Device Detection, we plan the design of all template types at all appropriate sizes prior to the development effort. This robust set of deliverables also creates the opportunity for formal user testing, which Agency Oasis can facilitate as appropriate.
Agency Oasis provides our clients with a consultative approach during the Development process.
It begins with a Discovery phase to clearly determine technical requirements. The requirements are gathered via face-to-face meetings and phone calls in order to foster a good working relationship with our clients from the onset of the project. With technical requirements confirmed, the team develops the blueprint for the build via technical design documentation. The technical design leverages functional requirements, annotated wireframes, and creative assets to serve as a reference point for the physical build.
The team uses the technical requirements and design documentation throughout the development (coding) effort. During the development phase, the team actively communicates with the client to report progress via iterative builds. This iterative approach helps to ensure that all parties are in line with progress during what can be the most challenging portion of the project.
The team takes Quality Assurance and testing seriously and is accustomed to meeting even the most stringent security and performance metrics for Fortune500 clients. A proven process that leverages automated builds, integrated test plans, and formal issue tracking further helps to inform our clients while tracking the process of this critical phase of the project.
The process culminates with deployment support to a production ready infrastructure. The team has worked within large enterprise corporate infrastructures and can provide a guided approach to the site deployment.
